"Cloud
Watchers", the group of VM fans who rented an airplane to grab The CW's
attention, are now working on a new plan. The idea is THINK BIG, this time
with DVDs rather than planes.
Our focus is now on getting Veronica Mars Season 1 DVDs into as many
libraries as possible. Libraries in all 50 states, and the top 100 Neilsen
markets, to be exact.
Thanks to earlier group efforts, over 150 sets of DVDs have already been
donated and accepted by libraries all over the US, plus some countries
abroad as well. We're hoping to at least double that total number by VM's
Season 3 premiere. Help us do that.
First, some clarifications: The Wall Street Journal first reported
some completely false information about our campaign. Incorrect wording on
the banner we purchased was one mistake on their part, but most importantly,
we absolutely did not spend $4000 on the plane. TV Guide, and
some other media outlets, then picked up the inaccurate WSJ info, and
repeated it. The Cloud Watchers campaign did manage to raise over $5000, but
only a fraction of that was spent on the plane. We used funds donated to the
campaign for several different projects, all aimed at helping get VM
renewed. Here's a breakdown-
Plane: 1,800 (paid)
Press: 240.91 (paid) includes press release and postcards
Care Packages: 897.00 (paid) sent to CW Execs and various VM friendly
press
Flowers: 470.24 (paid) sent to Dawn Ostroff
DVDs: 1,365.15 (paid) 51 sets sent to libraries in the Top 10 television
markets
(does NOT include the total number of DVDs donated by individuals)
Total dollars spent: 4,773.30
Total remaining in budget: 876.04
Grand total for donations received in cash: 5,649.34
Any new donations received, will go right back into the DVD campaign and
related efforts. Join us in ensuring Veronica gets a full 3rd season.
If you aren't comfortable donating cash, please consider purchasing a set of
DVDs on your own, and donating them to a market in need. Please visit
the Cloud Watchers Community
to find out what libraries still need donations.
If all VM fans band together, who knows what we might accomplish?
